1. Antonin Kinsky - Tottenham Hotspur
Position: Goalkeeper
Transaction: Transfer from Slavia Prague to Tottenham Hotspur for an estimated £12.5 million
Age: 21
Tottenham Hotspur is amid an injury crisis, and manager Ange Postecoglou has come under fire for his squad's performance in the Premier League. With starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario out with a long-term injury and ill-suited backup Fraser Forster recently injured, the Spurs were forced to start academy prospect Brandon Austin. He performed admirably, but the club needed an answer at keeper immediately. They turned to Prague and targeted a player they had hoped to bring in this coming summer, getting a deal done for Antonin Kinsky. The 21-year-old is perfect for the ball-playing and aggressive sweeper-keeper style Spurs want to play. He was immediately rushed into the lineup, playing a vital role in Spurs' 1-0 League Cup Semifinal (1st Leg) win over Liverpool. Kinsky was not brought in just to play emergency keeper, but the Spurs may have a long-term battle at the position between Vicario and the newcomer.
2. Emmanuel Agbadou - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Position: Defender
Transaction: Transfer to Wolves from Reims for an estimated £14 million
Age: 27
Wolverhampton Wanderers are squarely amid a relegation battle, level with Ipswich Town on points in 18th position. It has been a struggle all season to keep teams from scoring. They secured the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou, a native of the Ivory Coast who has played a vital role for Stade de Reims in the French league during the past couple of seasons. Agbadou is expected to step into the starting 11 right away, and if he can stabilize the defense and keep the Wolves in the Premier League, it will be money well spent.
3. Claudio Echeverri - Manchester City
Position: Midfielder
Transaction: Transfer to Manchester City from River Plate for an estimated £12.5 million
Age: 19
Manchester City has won four of the past five Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola's guidance, but this season has not gone as expected. City will need a remarkable closing stretch to even threaten for the title. Still, Guardiola is hoping young starlet Claudio Echeverri can make a quick difference upon joining the club following the conclusion of the U-20 South American Championship. The Argentinian is a creative midfielder with terrific technical ability in tight spaces and is expected to be a player who can drive the attack and create chances for others. Given City's current form, it would not be surprising to see the future star given an opportunity early in his time to make an impact.
4. Welington - Southampton
Position: Left Back
Transaction: Pre-contract agreement from Sao Paulo to Southampton
Age: 23
Welington is a Brazilian that made 164 appearances for powerhouse Sao Paulo and helped the club win a pair of trophies during his career there. He agreed to a contract with Southampton in the summer and officially joined the club during the winter window. He'll battle Kyle Walker-Peters for minutes on the left side.
5. Julio Soler - Bournemouth
Position: Left back
Transaction: Transfer from Lanus to Bournemouth for £6.6 million
Age: 19
Bournemouth is amid its best Premier League season in history. It is sitting in a European place and hopes to earn qualification for the Champions League. With that goal in reach, the club is investing in a final push and has secured the services of highly rated young left back Julio Soler from Argentina. The 19-year-old turns 20 in February, and he started three games for Argentina at the Olympics. He provides critical depth at a position of need for the Cherries.
6. Ben Godfrey - Ipswich Town
Position: Defender
Transaction: Loan to Ipswich Town from Atalanta
Age: 26
Ipswich Town are desperately scratching and clawing to remain in the Premier League beyond the 2024-2025 campaign. They have inked Premier League veteran Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta to provide cover in the middle of the defense. After leaking goals in December, Ipswich has moved to a back five, which means more central defenders are needed. He struggled at times with Everton and rarely played for Atalanta, but getting a capable defender with no obligation beyond this loan spell is a no-brainer that could help Ipswich stay up.
7. Diego Gomez - Brighton & Hove Albion
Position: Midfielder
Transaction: Transfer from Inter Miami to Brighton & Hove Albion for £11 million
Age: 21
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has high demands for his midfielders, requiring and expecting them to move the team from box to box with pace. Diego Gomez fits the bill, or at least he did at the Major League Soccer level. The Paraguayan may have a difficult time adjusting to the physicality of the Premier League, but Brighton has a good track record of helping players adjust and settle.
8. Yang Min-hyeok - Tottenham Hotspur
Position: Winger
Transaction: Transfer from Gangwon FC to Tottenham Hotspur for an estimated $4 million
Age: 18
This move is not expected to have an impact this season, despite Spurs' major injury concerns. However, Tottenham Hotspur are counting on developing another South Korean star as Yang Min-hyeok joins after initially signing with Spurs in the summer and finishing the K-League season as the league's "Rookie of the Season." He's a lively dribbler and goal scorer with pace to burn and joins a Spurs team loaded with other young talent like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Mikey Moore.
9. Kai Crampton - Bournemouth
Position: Goalkeeper
Transaction: Transfer from Chelsea to Bournemouth
Age: 18
Chelsea has a loaded academy, and they sent one of their highly rated young players to Bournemouth on a permanent transfer. Kai Crampton, a goalkeeper who has represented England at the U-15, U-16, and U-17 levels, will probably go on loan for a couple of seasons and progress before having a chance to play for the Bournemouth senior team, but this is one to watch in the future.
10. Matai Akinmboni - Bournemouth
Position: Midfielder
Transaction: Transfer from D.C. United to Bournemouth for $2.5 million
Age: 18
Bournemouth made another move for the future, agreeing to a deal with MLS side D.C. United to bring in Matai Akinmboni, a U.S. youth team player. Matai is expected to join Bournemouth's U21 squad, and the team hopes he can spend the next couple of years developing into a young player who can be called up to the senior team.
