Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels Spread, Line, Odds, Predictions, Picks and Betting Preview

Astros @ Angels – First Pitch: 9:38 p.m.

Expected Forecast: Overcast Clouds, 63°

In today’s intriguing MLB matchup, the Houston Astros are set to face the Los Angeles Angels with Framber Valdez and Shohei Ohtani taking the mound, respectively. The Angels are the favorites at a -141 price, and the total is listed at 7.5, hinting at a potential pitcher’s duel.

Ohtani, coming off a strong performance at the plate with two RBIs and two doubles, is now boasting a .301 batting average. Today, he’s stepping up as the pitcher against the Astros. While the price may seem light for Ohtani, it’s indicative of the respect the Astros command, despite being below .500.

Currently, these two teams are heading in different directions. The Angels have won six of their last eight games, while the Astros have dropped three straight and five of the last six. Houston is also dealing with injuries, hoping to restore depth to their lineup.

Given these circumstances, getting Ohtani at less than -150 seems a good bet. However, considering Valdez’s excellent 2.85 ERA and his strong performance against right-handers, an under in the first five innings might be a savvy play.

Valdez has struggled against left-handers but has been stellar against righties, posting a .265 weighted on-base percentage. Considering the Angels’ lineup will predominantly feature right-handed batters, this could work in Valdez’s favor.

With Ohtani’s potential to dominate the early innings, it might be wise to focus on the under in the first five innings rather than betting on the outright winner. This game promises to deliver an exciting mix of quality pitching and strategic batting, making it a must-watch for any baseball enthusiast.
