Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Football Outlook & Betting Insights

Is the Seahawks’ Previous Success Sustainable?

The question many NFL fantasy players are asking as the season approaches is whether the Seahawks’ success from last season can be replicated. It’s no easy answer, and I, too, wrestle with this notion. Still, certain key players offer significant value, even with the inevitable ebb and flow of the NFL season.

Player Breakdown:

  1. D.K. Metcalf (WR): Going as the third-round pick, Wide Receiver 15, Metcalf might seem like a catch. However, when compared to others in his bracket, Calvin Ridley of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers have a slight edge over him. Not saying that Metcalf won’t have his moments, but be cautious at this ADP.

  2. Kenneth Walker (RB): Standing as Running Back 19, Walker is a definite pick to consider. Given the Seahawks’ potent ground game, there’s immense potential here.

  3. Tyler Lockett (WR): This seasoned pro is going as Wide Receiver 33. An ever-reliable option, Lockett seems like a steal at this position.

  4. Jaxon Smith Njigba (WR): Positioned just behind Lockett at Wide Receiver 34, this choice is as enticing. If you’re looking for a solid flex option or a top backup, he could be your man.

  5. Geno Smith (QB): Arguably one of the most underrated players this season. As Quarterback 15 and a 10th-round pick, Geno offers a late-round value that’s hard to overlook. Last season, he showcased his skill, especially in the first half. However, the second half saw a dip in his performance. If he regains that initial form, expect fireworks.

  6. Zach Charbonnet: Another promising player. While not the top choice, he still provides substantial depth to any fantasy lineup.

Team Regression and What it Means for Fantasy:

Despite the overall positive trajectory, it’s crucial to remember that the Seahawks regressed in the middle of last season. From a stellar start, things cooled down significantly towards the end. Smith, though incredible at first, encountered more interceptions and sacks. This downturn impacted the team’s overall performance.

Yet, even with this regression, fantasy numbers remained decent. Given this, it’s likely that their performance this year will mirror the latter half of last season. This isn’t bad news for fantasy managers. In fact, anyone who drafts a Seahawk player, barring perhaps Metcalf, given his high ADP, should still be pleased with their pick.

Betting Angle:

If betting on the Seahawks this year, it might be wise to be a tad cautious. Given their unpredictable nature last season, it’s best to watch their initial games closely before placing significant bets. However, with their players still showing promise, certain game-specific bets or player prop bets might offer value.

Closing Thoughts:

The Seahawks, while not the consistent powerhouse of yesteryears, still provide enticing options for fantasy managers. While certain players might not offer the same flashiness as others in their brackets, the value they bring, especially in the middle to late rounds, is undeniable. As for betting, the key is to be observant and strategic, ensuring you’re not blinded by past glories but are attuned to their current form.
