Nikola Jokic Triple-Double & Denver to Win (+185)
I don’t know what it is with Nikola Jokic, but he’s averaged 10.4 assists per game at home compared to just 5 on the road this season, so as we target him having a triple-double tonight against the Golden State Warriors, we’re grateful he’s playing in Denver. We’re not too worried about Jokic having at least 10 rebounds as he’s done that in every game thus far, so at +185, we’ll ride with his passing trends at home en route to a triple-double and a win.
Julius Randle 10+ Rebounds & New York to Win (+140)
The New York Knicks are double-digit favorites at home against the San Antonio Spurs, so we’ll chalk up a win, but to bring this to a plus-money play, we’ll target Julius Randle to have at least 10 rebounds which he has done in six of seven games thus far. To keep this simple, six of seven and a massive favorite is good enough for me.
Joel Embiid 32+ Points & Philadelphia to Win (+280)
The Philadelphia 76ers have been out of the spotlight a bit with James Harden no longer around, but man, they’ve been unbelievable to start the season. After dropping a nail-biter on the road to open the season against Milwaukee, they’ve won five straight games by an average of 16 points per game. They have the ultimate test tonight against the Boston Celtics at home, and with Nick Nurse’s system clicking on all cylinders, I believe this Sixers team matches up against the Celtics way stronger than in years past. I give the Sixers the edge on their home floor tonight with how they’ve looked through the first two weeks, but if Embiid doesn’t score 32, the Sixers likely won’t win this game, so at +280, I’m looking at this like I’m getting +280 for the Sixers to just win the game.
PJ Washington 20+ Points & Charlotte to Win (+210)
The Charlotte Hornets are not a good team, but they’ll face the Washington Wizards at home tonight who have been straight-up pathetic to start the season. I’ll fade the Wizards any chance I can, so I’ll look to bring in PJ Washington into this player performance double to get at least 20 points. Washington has scored 20+ points in three of six games this year and the Wizards lack any frontcourt defense with Kyle Kuzma and Daniel Gafford essentially being turnstiles down low. Joel Embiid just put up 48 points effortlessly in three quarters on Monday night. I know he’s Embiid, but still, if you watched that game, their defense was laughable. I’ll bank on Washington to have 20+ and a win at +210 against the Wizards any day of the week.
Tyler Herro 25+ Points & Miami to Win (+215)
The Miami Heat have been a disappointment to start the season, but they’ll face the Memphis Grizzlies tonight who have been the biggest disappointment in the entire league. Tyler Herro has asserted himself as the Heat’s top-scoring option through two weeks, averaging just over 25 points per game on an average of 21 attempts. Across the last six games, he’s eclipsed 25 points only three times, but the three misses were outings where he had 22, 22, and 24 points. We can say rather confidently Herro is going to get us in the ballpark points-wise of where we need to be regardless of the outcome, but for the Heat to win, like with our Embiid read, Herro needs to have 25+. At +215, we’ll take the shot.
Anthony Davis Double-Double & Los Angeles to Win (+125)
The Los Angeles Lakers are on the road tonight at the Houston Rockets who actually find themselves on a three-game winning streak. I’m not reading too much into the Rockets' wins as they’ve come against a bad Charlotte team and the Sacramento Kings twice who have been playing horribly to start the year. The Lakers are the better team, so I’ll ride with them to take down an inexperienced Rockets squad on the back of an Anthony Davis double-double which AD has done in five of his last six games.
Kevin Huerter 15+ Points & Sacramento to Win (+200)
The Sacramento Kings return home tonight after an ugly road trip as 7.5-point favorites against the Portland Trail Blazers. As bad as the Kings have looked over the past week the line shows confidence in the Kings bouncing back tonight, so I’ll have confidence in the Kings. I’ll look to target Kevin Huerter who has got off to a rough start to start the season but faces a defense that’s allowed the most points to opposing shooting guards in the league. At +200, I’ll roll the dice on Huerter being a primary scorer with his ideal matchup.
