A massive AL-East series has been brewing north of the border, and on Wednesday, the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees will square off in a series-deciding Game 3. That means we will see dueling aces on the hill in Max Fried and Chris Bassitt.

Despite the offensive prowess of both lineups on hand, I see the under as a wise play for the rubber match. For reference, the previous two contests in Toronto have produced an average combined total of 7.0 runs per game. With superior pitchers going, I believe this meeting has a fair shot to be low scoring.

The southpaw Fried has dazzled over his first campaign in pinstripes, showcasing a 3.48 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA, per FanGraphs). Additionally, his 8.4% homerun-to-fly ball ratio is approaching his best clip since 2022. Toronto is slightly weaker when facing LHP, as they are tagged with a .258 BA in the split (compared to .261 vs. RHP).

Bassitt has worked efficiently in 2025, featuring a 45.8% ground-ball rate. He is also operating with a 3.67 FIP at this juncture, which is his best mark since coming to the Jays.

This matchup between powerhouses of the AL East will be must-watch TV. Still, I think the hurlers will dictate the action here.

Best Bet: Under 8.5 runs (-114)

Where to Watch Athletics vs. Texas Rangers

  • Ballpark: Globe Life Field
  • Location: Arlington, TX
  • Where to Watch: NBCSCA, RSN
  • Time: 8:05 p.m. ET
  • Spread: TEX -1.5 (+142) | Total: 8.5
  • Moneyline: MIL +120 | TEX -142

Moving over to the AL West, Wednesday offers a clash between the Athletics and Texas Rangers. The projected starters at Globe Life Field are fellow lefties JP Sears and Patrick Corbin.

In 2025, A’s have a solid lineup, but the offense has been noticeably worse on the road, where they sport a .236 BA/.709 OPS (compared to .261/.759 in Sacramento). Over the previous two nights in Arlington (both losses), the Athletics plated just four total runs.

The Rangers have dealt with struggles of their own this year, but the pitching has been on point. Collectively, Texas is tagged with an MLB-best 1.16 WHIP. From there, the Rangers’ bullpen shows a stingy 3.27 ERA (per Covers).

With Corbin building momentum — he’s surrendered three or fewer runs over his past four starts — I like the home side to win by multiple runs. Notably, the Rangers are 56-46 (54.9%) against the spread in 2025. That run-line clip is even better at home wherein Texas is 28-21 (58%): give me Rangers -1.5 for an advantageous listing of +142 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Best Bet: Rangers -1.5 (+142)

MLB Best Bets Wednesday’s Top Picks

  • Yankees-Blue Jays Under 8.5 (-114)
  • Rangers -1.5 (+142)
