The Cleveland Browns were going to take Sanders for sure, right? Nope, instead, a few slots after Milroe, former Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel's name was called. The lefty is not an overwhelming physical presence at 6'0" on a good day, but with an underwhelming quarterback room in Cleveland, he might just compete for a starting gig.

Before the third round ended, the Las Vegas Raiders had two more chances at Sanders, but went offensive line. Vegas took former Texas Tech guard Caleb Rogers at 98 and tackle Charles Grant out of William & Mary with No. 99.

The popularity of Shedeur Sanders cannot be denied. Yet, here we are on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, where 102 players have been taken, not named Shedeur, and he is still the most talked-about NFL prospect. Most had the former Colorado QB going in the first or second round. Mel Kiper ranked the son of "Coach Prime" at the top of his quarterbacks big board. Yet, here we are.

Cam Ward, Miami
NFL Team: Tennessee Titans

Pick: 1st Round, 1st Overall

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Tennessee Titans selected Cam Ward with the first overall selection. Ward's odds to go No. 1 were as ridiculous as -20000 ahead of the opening round.

NFL Team: New York Giants

Pick: 1st Round, 25th Overall

The New York Giants traded up to take Jaxson Dart over Sanders. New York sent the Houston Texans its second-round pick (No. 34), a third-round pick (No. 99) and a third-rounder in next year's draft.

NFL Team: New Orleans Saints

Pick: 2nd Round, 40th Overall

Many thought the Cleveland Browns would end the Shedeur slip at the start of the second round. Instead, they went defense, picking linebacker Carson Schwesinger out of UCLA with the 33rd overall pick. They snubbed Sanders again at 36 by picking former Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins.

Then, with the 40th selection and uncertainty surrounding Derek Carr's shoulder injury, the New Orleans Saints went with a quarterback with much more mileage on him than Sanders. Tyler Shough played seven seasons of college ball and is two and a half years older than Shedeur.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama
NFL Team: Seattle Seahawks

Pick: 3rd Round, 92nd Overall

Following Shough's second-round selection, some speculated the Seattle Seahawks might take Sanders with pick 50. Instead, Seattle went with Cam Ward's former target, Elijah Arroyo, out of Miami. The Las Vegas Raiders did the same thing with the 58th pick when they took former TCU wide receiver Jack Bech. Cleveland and Vegas again did not go quarterback at the top of the third round, and neither did the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 83. After that, Seattle skipped Sanders again to pick Jalen Milroe.

Milroe's winning pedigree, coming out of Alabama, is complemented by speed, size, and off-the-charts athleticism.
