The Kansas City Chiefs, with one loss on the season, are undoubtedly a team that commands respect, and their dominance may intimidate the average bettor from looking too closely at their opponents. However, I’m not shying away from backing the Pittsburgh Steelers in this intriguing Christmas Day showdown on their home turf. The Steelers’ defense has consistently risen to the occasion at Acrisure Stadium, shaving more than six points per game off their opponents’ scoring average compared to road games. Taking on a Chiefs offensive line that has shown vulnerabilities this season, Pittsburgh’s pass rush could be the key to disrupting Patrick Mahomes and tilting the game in their favor. Don’t sleep on the Steelers this Christmas. This has the potential to be a nice plus-money upset to kick off the NFL Christmas Day festivities.

As much as Mahomes is an elite quarterback, the Chiefs offense has had significant flaws this season. At their core, these teams utilize their respective defenses to find success, and we expect that to continue on Christmas Day. Steve Spagnuolo is arguably the best defensive coordinator in football, while the Steelers have one of the most talented units in the NFL. Despite their being pieces that impact both sides offensively, I was a bit surprised to see where this line opened for the total. Both sides will try to establish the run early but struggle to succeed. I’m not sure either passing attack is built to find much success through the air. This feels like a game that will come down to the wire and be decided by a field goal, much like the spread suggests. It’s not difficult to envision this one ending 20-17.
