The Verdict
Unless the Steelers can truly upgrade at the quarterback position, all signs point to Kenny Pickett returning as the starter. Reports continue to suggest the Steelers want competition for him, though, which opens up speculation as to the names they might look to target. The Steelers currently boast +10000 odds to win the 2025 Super Bowl.
3 Quarterback Options for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II mentioned that he's not closing the door on the team potentially trading for a quarterback. We consider the top 3 options.
Justin Fields - Chicago Bears
Considering the Chicago Bears own two top-ten picks in the upcoming NFL draft, including the first overall selection, many are speculating about the availability of Justin Fields. With Caleb Williams being the likely selection if the Bears keep the pick, Fields should be available for trade. Fields would be an interesting option in an Arthur Smith offense, and it will ultimately come down to what the price would be to acquire him. Mark us down in the intrigued category, but the cost could certainly sway Pittsburgh in a different direction.
Kyler Murray - Arizona Cardinals
With the money that's still owed to Kyler Murray, it feels unlikely that the Arizona Cardinals will move on from him. Much like Fields, Murray brings some appealing traits for what Arthur Smith likes to do on offense. With the contract an issue and the Cardinals unlikely to sell short on him unless they really value a quarterback in the top five of this draft, it feels far-fetched that he'll ultimately be a target. Still, Murray checks a lot of the boxes on the field that Pittsburgh should be looking into for their next quarterback.
Ryan Tannehill - Tennessee Titans
It's unlikely that the Tennessee Titans will bring back Ryan Tannehill, and if that's the case, it's certainly plausible the Steelers will sign him as part of the competition in their quarterback room. It would hardly be a splash, but new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith did get the most out of Tannehill during his time with the Titans. It wouldn't be an exciting signing, but there's at least some merit in the Steelers considering Tannehill this offseason.
