Derrick Henry’s Performance and Titans’ Struggles: A Closer Look

Tennessee Titans’ Scoring Woes: Is Derrick Henry the Only Beacon of Hope?

The Not-So-Brilliant Offense of the Titans

It’s a legitimate question many have been pondering: will the Titans ever light up the scoreboard this season? Excluding Henry, it appears that the team has been underwhelming. But diving deeper, even Henry’s recent statistics aren’t painting the rosiest picture. Zero broken tackles for the year, just 163 rushing yards, and an unexpectedly low participation in the passing game with only five receptions.

Last year, Henry took the league by storm with his remarkable run game and increased involvement in passing situations. This year, not so much. And what’s even more surprising is Henry’s snap count. He’s played fewer snaps than Tyjae Spears, which indicates that the coaching staff sees Spears as a more versatile back, especially in passing situations.

The Titans Underdogs: Ryan Tannehill’s Drastic Dip in Form

We can’t discuss the Titans’ issues without touching on Tannehill’s performance, or rather, the lack of it. Once seen as the QB who could make plays with both his arms and legs, Tannehill’s recent showings make one question that assessment. His numbers have been abysmal, to say the least. Comparing him with the likes of Zach Wilson of the New York Jets only brings further disappointment for the Titans’ fan base.

However, the game against the Cincinnati Bengals might shine a different light if Joe Burrow doesn’t perform up to the mark. Although speculations and game-day antics like jumping jacks might stir the excitement, if Burrow isn’t at 100%, the Bengals might find it challenging to capitalize.

The Silver Lining: Titans’ Defense and the Bengals’ Opportunity

While the Titans’ offense has been dismal, their run defense seems to be a different story. Through three games, they’ve managed to contain their opponents effectively. This might spell trouble for Joe Mixon, who’s been the Bengals’ primary weapon on the ground.

However, the Titans’ defense might have their hands full with the likes of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. If both wide receivers are not double-covered, expect them to see plenty of action, with at least 10 targets each.

Deep League Gem: Tanner Hudson’s Opportunity

For those in super deep leagues, Tanner Hudson is a name to consider. With Irv Smith Jr. out, Hudson is set to start as the Bengals’ primary tight end. Hudson has previously showcased his skills during preseason games, leading in receiving yards. It’ll be a treat to see him get significant game time.

Betting Takeaway

The Bengals look like the stronger side going into the matchup, especially if the Titans’ offense doesn’t pick up the pace. If you’re leaning towards betting, the Bengals, especially with the Titans’ current form, might be a safer bet. However, keep an eye on Burrow’s fitness and Hudson’s involvement, as these could be potential game-changers.
