MLB AL Odds Power Rankings: Rays Rising, Yankees Dropping

The Tampa Bay Rays are still the class of the American League, while the New York Yankees have seen their odds drop to win the Pennant.

1. Tampa Bay Rays +240 (Last week: +260)

The biggest heavy hitter in the American League continues to be the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa owns the best record in baseball at 48-21 while also compiling an 8-2 record over their last ten games. With another strong stretch, the Rays have seen their odds to win the American League bet down from +260 to +240.

2. Houston Astros +360 (Last week: +360)

The Houston Astros still own the third-best run differential in the American League at +55, but they’ve been struggling lately, where they’ve posted just four victories over their last ten games. Still, Houston has maintained their +360 odds.

Without Aaron Judge in the fold, the New York Yankees haven’t been the same team. The Bronx Bombers have won just four of their last ten games, which has led to their odds dropping to win the American League from +480 to +700.

The Texas Rangers have built up a 4.5-game lead atop the AL West, even after suffering two straight losses. Texas is proving to be a worthwhile contender in the American League, leading to them maintaining their +700 odds to win the Pennant.

5. (Tie) Toronto Blue Jays +800 (Last week: +850)

After a lackluster May, the Toronto Blue Jays appear to have found their form in June. Toronto has posted a 7-3 record over their last ten games, leading to their odds of winning the American League getting bet down from +850 to +800.

 The Minnesota Twins still manage to sit on top of the AL Central despite owning just a .500 record at 33-33. Minnesota has posted a sub-par 4-6 record over their last ten games, yet their odds to win the American League rise from +850 to +800. 

7. Baltimore Orioles +1800 (Last week: +2000)

With four straight victories for the Baltimore Orioles, they’ve once again seen their odds of winning the American League rise. The oddsmakers haven’t entirely bought in when you consider they sit in a tie for the second-best record in the AL yet have the seventh-shortest odds to win the Pennant at +1800. 

8. Los Angeles Angels +2000 (Last week: +2600)

If you’re looking for another team on the rise in the AL West, the Los Angeles Angels certainly fit the bill. Shohei Ohtani and the Angels are now six games above .500 and have won seven of ten. The Angels have seen their odds to win the AL rise from +2600 to +2000 over the last week. 

9. Seattle Mariners +3000 (Last week: +3000)

The Seattle Mariners have been mainly underachieving in 2023, which has seen them tally a 4-6 record over their last ten games, along with sitting 4.5 games out of a wild card spot. The Mariners have continued to own +3000 odds to win the American League. 

10. Cleveland Guardians +3700 (Last week: +4500)

In what appears to be a wide-open AL Central, the Cleveland Guardians have continued to hang around, where they sit 1.5 games behind the division-leading Twins. The Guardians have posted a 6-4 record over their last ten, leading to their odds rising from +4500 to +3700.
