Isiah Pacheco +3500
Some may argue that Isiah Pacheco doesn't meet the threshold for being considered a sleeper pick. Sure, he's the Chiefs' lead back and a fundamental part of their game-planning, but +3500 is way too low of a price for everything that Pacheco offers.
Pacheco has cemented himself as Kansas City's feature back. He's averaged 20.3 carries per game over his past four outings, totaling 384 rushing yards and three touchdowns over that stretch. Further, he remains an option in the passing game, adding 62 yards on 13 receptions over the same four-game sample.
Kelce won't replicate his 11-for-11 performance, and the Niners will be keen on stopping Mahomes. If Pacheco shoulders the offensive burden, as he has for much of the season, he'll become Super Bowl LVIII MVP.
Nick Bosa +10000
Every once in a while, a defensive player steps up in the Super Bowl and delivers an MVP performance. Although the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs get a lot of credit for their offenses, neither would be in this spot without their game-changing defenses. You can infer from the nine players ahead of him that oddsmakers expect these offenses to shine again, but at +10000 or better, Nick Bosa is the top value as Super Bowl MVP.
The edge rusher has been exceptional in the playoffs. Bosa is coming off a 2.0 sack performance against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship but has also totaled six tackles, two tackles for losses, and nine quarterback hits in two postseason games. Patrick Mahomes is one of the toughest QBs to get to, and Bosa can amplify his candidacy with a few sacks.
Bosa has a growing list of accolades—Defensive Player of the Year, All-Pro, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and four-time Pro Bowler. We wouldn't be surprised if Super Bowl MVP is added to that list next week.
Brandon Aiyuk +4500
The disrespect. All season, Brandon Aiyuk was touted as one of the top offensive players on the 49ers. The fourth-year pro led the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns but has been relegated to +4500 on the Super Bowl MVP futures board. Aiyuk could easily surpass all expectations en route to the MVP distinction against the Chiefs.
Granted, his performance has been sub-optimal in the playoffs. Aiyuk has six receptions on 14 targets for only 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. However, the Niners speedster has already eclipsed the century mark in seven games this season with a career-best 71.4% catch rate.
Aiyuk is better than his postseason boxscores imply.
While the Chiefs focus on Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle, it could be Aiyuk who does the most damage.
Rashee Rice +7000
So far this postseason, all the Chiefs chatter has surrounded Mahomes and Travis Kelce. And rightfully so. Kelce broke the playoff receiving record, and Mahomes has been the offensive catalyst leading KC to glory.
But Rashee Rice is quietly maintaining his Pro Bowl-worthy metrics from the second half, making him a sleeper pick worth considering.
The praise was heaped on Kelce in the AFC Championship, but don't overlook Rice's contributions. Rice hauled in eight of nine passes, albeit for a modest 46 yards. Still, that was the seventh time in nine games in which he had at least nine targets and the sixth time over that stretch he posted a catch rate above 80.0%. Altogether, over that nine-game sample, Rice has posted a 77.8% catch rate, averaging 82.3 yards and 7.0 receptions per game.
Rice will be the unsuspecting Super Bowl LVIII MVP if we see him reach his ceiling.
Fred Warner +18000
You may be detecting the theme here. If the 49ers defeat the Chiefs, their defense will get much credit for corraling Kansas City's offense. For that reason and more, Fred Warner should be all over your MVP radar.
Warner is a disruptive presence on defense. The three-time All-Pro had 13 tackles against the Lions, adding one tackle for a loss and a pass deflection for good measure. Moreover, the Niners linebacker can do it all. He's totaled four forced fumbles, four interceptions, 2.5 sacks, and 11 pass deflections, all while leading the team in tackles.
Warner has claimed an All-Pro designation in three of the past four seasons, and it's entirely conceivable that he becomes the fifth linebacker to hoist the Pete Rozelle trophy. At +18000, he's worth a flyer.
Isiah Pacheco +3500
