The Los Angeles Dodgers continue their brief homestand, kicking off a four-game set versus the New York Mets. Of course, this is a rematch of last season’s NLCS in which the Dodgers escaped with a six-game win en route to their World Series Championship.
The Mets are seeking revenge on Monday night, and we like their chances of pulling off the upset.

After easily dispatching the New York Yankees in the first two games of their weekend series, the Dodgers were handed a decisive loss on Sunday night. Unfortunately for Dodgers fans, Monday night is shaping up for a similar result.
Paul Blackburn takes to the mound for the Mets for his first start of the season. The deceptive righty has missed the first two months of the season with a knee ailment, but has worked his way back into game shape in the minors. Across 29.1 innings pitched, Blackburn is toting a 3.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 9.5 K/9 rate into the series opener.
The Dodgers struggled on Sunday night, recording just six hits and 10 strikeouts versus the Yankees. After overheating through the first two games of that series, diminished production is expected early versus the Mets. LA has been operating above expected levels for an extended period, suggesting that regression is inevitable as metrics fall back into a normal range.
When these teams met last week, New York took two of three from the Dodgers. Another win could be in store for the Mets in Monday’s series opener. We’re backing the visitors in this spot.

Leg 2: Juan Soto Over 0.5 Bases -170
This hasn’t been the start of the season that Juan Soto had dreamt of. After signing his monster deal this offseason, Soto’s tenure as a New York Met is off to a tepid start. Still, he’s shown signs of heating up lately and should have no problem eclipsing 0.5 bases on Monday night.
As bad as he’s looked, Soto continues to rank as an elite analytics bat. The five-time Silver Slugger ranks in the 95th percentile or better in hard-hit rate, expected slugging percentage, and expected weighted on-base average. Moreover, Soto is starting to bring his traditional metrics back into the expected range. He’s riding a modest three-game hit streak, totaling 11 bases across that modest sample.
Soto is heating up, yet he still has a modest base prop on Monday night. We’re buying low on Soto, expecting him to cash with at least a base hit to keep his current streak intact.
Leg 3: Pete Alonso Over 0.5 RBIs +140
On the other side of the spectrum, Pete Alonso has proven worthy of his more modest contract this offseason. The Polar Bear has been a revelation in the Mets’ batting order and is primed to deliver another RBI against the Dodgers.
Analytically, Alonso rates even better than Soto. His .620 expected slugging percentage, 19.2% barrel rate, and .425 expected weighted on-base average all rank in the 98th percentile or higher. Predictably, Alonso has been able to translate that to tangible on-field success. The Mets’ first baseman has 12 homers, 32 runs, and 46 RBI, the fourth-most in the NL.
Alonso’s successes are reflected in his recent performances. He has totaled eight RBI across his last seven games, a trend that should persist into tonight’s heated affair. At the current prices, we can’t overlook the value in backing Alonso to drive in at least one run versus the Dodgers.
