Knicks vs Celtics Prediction, Props, and Best Bets NBA Game 2

John Canady

Host · Writer

The New York Knicks are set for a showdown with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night for Game 2 in this Eastern Conference Semifinals series. New York stole homecourt advantage on Monday with a 20-point comeback win and now has a chance to head back to Madison Square Garden up 2-0. However, they’ll have to find a way to prevent an amped up Celtics team from tying this series and re-gaining confidence before heading home to MSG, where Boston is 2-0 themselves this year.

Knicks vs Celtics Best Bet: Celtics -10.5

Boston collapsed in the second half against the Knicks on Monday after stretching their lead to 20 points. However, the loss resulted from the C’s going cold and New York heating up on offense. The Celtics’ cold spell seemed to be more self-inflicted than it was caused by anything the Knicks did on defense, considering 30 of Boston’s 45 missed three-point attempts were deemed “open shots" following the game. Assuming the C’s return to the team that helped them become so dangerous over the last two seasons, I like the odds that Boston makes a statement to tie the series 1-1 with a double-digit win tonight.

Knicks vs Celtics Best Total Bet: Over 211.5

In the four games during the regular season, these two teams easily surpassed the 211.5-point set total in each matchup. On Monday, even in an outlier game for these two high-powered squads, they still exceeded this set total. If tonight’s matchup follows the trend of each of the previous five games, going past the set total should be an easy task to complete in this battle.

Knicks Best Player Bet: OG Anunoby 20+ Points +186

OG Anunoby is blossoming into the player the Knicks hoped he could become when they traded for him last season. The Indiana product averaged a career-high 18 points per game this season, and he carried his impressive play into the postseason, becoming one of the most reliable scorers for New York, averaging 19 points through seven games. On Monday, Anunoby put together his best postseason game with 29 points, including six makes from beyond the arc. With Boston likely prioritizing forcing the Knicks’ supporting cast to beat them, the forward will have plenty of opportunities on offense.

Celtics Best Player Bet: Jayson Tatum 4+ Threes Made +126

Like the rest of the Celtics squad on Monday, Jayson Tatum struggled severely on offense with shooting splits of 30.4% from field goal range and 26.7% from three. Despite that, the C’s star still managed to drain four threes, primarily due to his 15 (!!) attempts from downtown. Obviously, the percentage is low, but with his confidence to continue firing, especially with the good looks the Knicks gave him,  it won’t be surprising to see him drain 4+ threes again tonight, but likely on a higher shooting percentage.
