Mavericks Tie Series with Thunder: Doncic Leads 119-110 Victory

The Western Conference semifinal series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks took a thrilling turn after last night’s Game 2. The Thunder entered the game as a five-point favorite following a blowout 22-point win in Game 1, but Luka Dončić and the Mavericks secured revenge with a 119-110 victory. The series is now tied 1-1.

The Mavericks led by six points at halftime and maintained a double-digit advantage heading into the final quarter. They prevailed as a five-point underdog, with the total score barely exceeding the 218-point line, finishing at a combined 219 points.

Despite their early series loss on the road, the Mavericks found success from beyond the arc, shooting 49% from three-point range (18 of 37). Dončić, who had struggled from deep recently, delivered an impressive 5-for-8 performance.

Kyrie Irving, meanwhile, contributed 11 assists but struggled offensively, scoring just nine points and going 0-for-2 from deep. However, his playmaking proved invaluable as he facilitated offense for his teammates.

Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a standout performance, scoring 33 points in 41 minutes. Jalen Williams added 20 points, but rookie Chet Holmgren fell short of expectations with just 11 points, despite having nine points by halftime.

With the series tied and home-court advantage now shifting to the Mavericks, the Thunder must regroup. Although Gilgeous-Alexander excelled and Williams contributed solid scoring, Holmgren‘s lack of impact proved costly.

Prop bets from sportsbooks like FanDuel also added intrigue, as Luka Dončić needed three three-pointers and Holmgren required 15 points to meet an odds boost. Unfortunately for bettors, Holmgren only managed 11 points, missing the target.

Looking ahead, if Dončić continues playing well on his injured knee and Irving finds his shooting rhythm, the Mavericks could flip the script in their favor. The Thunder will need to capitalize on their strong Game 1 momentum and adjust defensively if they hope to reclaim control of the series.
