1. Jalen Milroe Dominates
The Alabama Crimson Tide are 3-0 after a resounding victory in Madison over the Wisconsin Badgers. There are questions about how good the Tide's passing attack can be with Jalen Milroe at quarterback. He still has not proven he can excel in the intermediate range. The Crimson Tide are very dangerous when Milroe sticks with what he excels at. Milroe shredded the Wisconsin defense, throwing for 12-for-17 for 196 yards with three touchdowns and adding 75 yards on the ground for two more touchdowns. Milroe was unbothered by the Wisconsin defense and continues to shine under Kalen DeBoer. In 2024, Milroe had eight touchdowns with no interceptions, averaging 11.3 yards per attempt while completing 67.3 percent of his throws. Milroe also has 156 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. That sounds like the beginnings of a Heisman Trophy candidacy.

2. Alabama Overwhelms Toothless Badgers Offense
Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke began the game by completing five straight passes before exiting with an injury. Revisionist history would suggest the Van Dyke injury altered this game. Still, the reality is that his five completions were for a total of 16 yards, and Alabama’s defense was teeing off on this Wisconsin attack both before and after Van Dyke gave way to Braedyn Locke. The pass rush was not great, but LT Overton had an excellent game from the Bandit position, and some younger edge rushers got into the game after an injury to Qua Russaw. Wisconsin did not have the offensive line or the horses to stay competitive as the secondary from Alabama made sure they could not find rhythm through the air, and they only averaged 3.6 yards per rush on the ground. The defense will face a much stiffer test in two weeks against Georgia.
3. Healthy OL Controls Contest
The Alabama starting offensive line needs to stay healthy. The backups we have seen appear to be a significant downgrade, but the starting five have been dominant and have allowed this offense to be good. Kadyn Proctor was back in the lineup, and this was the first time the projected starting five was in the game together. After a shaky start on the ground, the Tide ran the ball at will, and Jalen Milroe had all day to pick out his targets. The lack of depth is a concern, but the starting five is an elite unit.
4. Wide Receiver Rotation
After some mixing and matching, the Alabama Crimson Tide are beginning to sort out its wide receiver rotation. The best of the bunch has emerged very clearly: freshman Ryan Williams. The five-star recruit had a 47-yard touchdown catch that opened up the Wisconsin defense, and he finished with a team-high four receptions for 78 yards. He is now at ten catches for 285 yards with four touchdowns. The other top target appears to be Germie Bernard. The Washington transfer had a solid afternoon, and he is an excellent complementary piece for the speedy Williams. That’s a good one-two punch, but Alabama could use a third target to emerge and provide consistent numbers.
