5. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide need help in the defensive secondary, and Cormani McClain is one of the few premium corners on the market. McClain has not played like a five-star recruit, but Kalen DeBoer needs talented bodies. McClain’s high ceiling could appeal to DeBoer if he feels his defensive staff can get the most out of him. Following Nick Saban’s retirement, Alabama lost talent to the NFL Draft and transfer portal. Adding some talent back in with the addition of McClain would start to address the secondary.

1. Florida State Seminoles
Former five-star cornerback Cormani McClain is leaving Colorado and has entered the transfer portal. McClain was expected to learn under the tutelage of head coach Deion Sanders but is moving on after things never really clicked with the Buffaloes. McClain was poor in his only season in Boulder but has the physical tools to become an excellent defensive back in the right system. The most logical fit would be the Florida State Seminoles. McClain was recruited by Mike Norvell when he came out of high school, and returning to his home state of Florida to play for a title contender makes sense.

2. South Florida Bulls
Alex Golesh had a successful first year in charge of the South Florida football program. USF is close to McClain’s hometown of Lakeland, Florida. It’s a long shot that Cormani McClain leaves a school headed to the Big 12 to play in the American Athletic Conference, but playing time at a place like Florida State or Miami would be hard to come by. If he wanted to jump in and play right away, a move back to the South Florida area could be the play.
3. Miami Hurricanes
Speaking of the South Florida area, what about a move to “The U”? Miami is one of the schools that was rumored to be active in the spring transfer portal window, and adding a high-ceiling player like Cormani McClain would be right up Mario Cristobal’s alley. McClain is originally from Lakeland, Florida, and Miami recruited him out of high school, so he has some familiarity with Cristobal and his staff. The Hurricanes are the pick if he wants to move back to South Florida and play in a major conference.

4. USC Trojans
There is a chance Cormani McClain enjoyed his move to Colorado and the western part of the country. If that’s the case, he could move even further west. The USC Trojans are placing more emphasis on the defensive side of the ball, and Lincoln Riley hired D'Anton Lynn to lead his defense. USC is not a title contender in 2024, as they move to the Big Ten, but McClain would have a chance to grow in a new defense and play in one of the top two leagues in the country.
