12. LB S’Maje Burrell, Texas (Prediction: TCU)
S’Maje Burrell spent his freshman year with the Longhorns despite seeing no on-field action for Texas. While Burrell didn’t get his chance to play for the Longhorns, he has the talent to find a sizable role elsewhere in the portal. The athletic linebacker could transfer locally and join another Texas team at TCU.
1. S Jacoby Mathews, Texas A&M (Prediction: Oregon)
Jacoby Mathews has completed two seasons at Texas A&M, demonstrating the potential to emerge as one of the nation's premier defensive backs. Standing at six-foot-two, his performance notably stood out within the Aggies' defense last season. Now, he ventures into the transfer portal in search of a fresh opportunity. Reports from insiders indicate strong interest from prestigious programs such as Oregon and Florida State, underscoring the high regard in which he's held. Given Florida State's depth in the secondary, Oregon might offer the Louisiana native a more substantial role within the Ducks' defensive lineup.

2. DT Johnny Bowens III, Oregon (Prediction: Texas)
Johnny Bowens III spent his freshman year at Oregon, where he only racked up two total tackles in limited time on the field. As the six-foot-three defensive lineman hits the portal, he’ll likely have plenty of suitors, with teams looking to bolster their defensive line ahead of next season. With the former Duck looking to compete with a top program, the Longhorns could be the perfect fit for Bowens.
3. CB Sam McCall, Texas A&M (Prediction: Louisville)
Sam McCall spent one season at Florida State before transferring to Texas A&M. The talented corner hoped to make a more significant impact with the Aggies than he did with the Seminoles in his freshman season. Still, he struggled to find consistency in his limited time on the field. Now, McCall hits the transfer portal looking for a new program to suit up for next year. McCall could impact another defense in the ACC for a team like Louisville.
4. LB Nigel Glover, Ohio State (Prediction: Miami)
Nigel Glover committed to Ohio State after transferring from Northwestern. The talented defender played safety in high school but transitioned to linebacker, joining the Buckeyes program. However, despite the position change, Glover didn’t see any action on the field as a freshman. As a result, Glover opted to hit the portal and seek a more significant opportunity elsewhere. Glover could make an impact with any program he chooses to join, but with Miami seeking defensive help, Glover could be a boost for the Hurricanes as they look to make noise in 2024.
5. WR Raymond Cottrell Jr., Kentucky
Raymond Cottrell Jr. spent his freshman season at Texas A&M, catching one pass for 13 yards and one touchdown. The talented receiver initially transferred to Kentucky earlier this offseason, but now Cottrell Jr. hits the portal again. If he’s presented with an offer from Florida State, his fit with FSU makes too much sense in Mike Norvell’s offense.
6. WR Karmello English, Michigan (Prediction: Auburn)
Karmello English committed to Michigan out of high school, where he saw little time on the field as a freshman. Entering the portal hoping to find a program that allows him to showcase his skillset on the field, the wide receiver could be an exciting name to monitor. The Alabama native could be interested in playing in his home state at Auburn, where he may be more likely to see a more significant role than with the Crimson Tide.
7. CB Adam Hopkins, Colorado → Charlotte
Adam Hopkins committed to Colorado as a four-star recruit out of high school. In his freshman season with the Buffaloes, the cornerback saw limited snaps. As a result, Hopkins' production didn’t meet the expectations he had hoped for, contributing to the defender entering the transfer portal. The former wide receiver will now head to Charlotte, where he’ll get a fresh start in his new position.
8. EDGE Kristopher Ross, Texas (Prediction: TCU)
Kristopher Ross has spent two seasons at Texas, where he’s yet to make the impact with the Longhorns he was hoping for. Although Ross has yet to develop into what he was expected to be as a recruit, the defensive lineman has the tools and skillset to develop into a very impactful lineman. With the Texas native looking for a new home, perhaps a fit down the road at TCU could be in store for the six-foot-two defender.
9. S Myles Slusher, Colorado (Prediction: Oklahoma State)
Myles Slusher spent three seasons at Arkansas before transferring to Colorado last year. In one season with the Buffaloes, Slusher saw a dip in his production under Deion Sanders. The safety hit the portal again, hoping to find a better situation for himself. Slusher could decide to go back to his SEC roots.
10. OT Grant Bingham, Kentucky (Prediction: Marshall)
Grant Bingham committed to Kentucky as one of the best offensive linemen in his recruiting class. With multiple years of experience and the ability to protect a quarterback and help out in the rushing game, Bingham could be a sneaky good addition for whatever team lands him. Bingham could be a good fit for Marshall, helping to bolster the team’s offensive line.
11. RB Jalen Berger, Michigan State
Jalen Berger spent two seasons at Wisconsin before transferring to Michigan State in his junior year. The running back has had an up-and-down collegiate career, and now he hopes to put together a career year at yet another program. With plenty of talent and the ability to add another element to a team’s offense, Berger could be an excellent addition to his new team’s offense. With Rutgers heavily recruiting the playmaker out of high school, a fit with the Scarlet Knights could be a fantastic move for Berger’s career.
