8) NFC South
The NFC South has been considered the weakest division for years now. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons have looked legit through the first few weeks. In addition, the New Orleans Saints have also shown flashes of being competitive. Unfortunately, the Carolina Panthers and their dysfunction continue to hold down the South.
1) NFC North
The NFC North is filled with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears. Each team in the division sits above .500 with the postseason in reach. With a combined record of 14-5, the NFC North comes in at No. 1.
2) NFC East
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have run the NFC East for years now. However, with the emergence of the Washington Commanders, the division looks a lot more competitive than in recent years. Not to mention, even the New York Giants have looked competitive this year. With a combined record of 11-8, the NFC East slots in at No. 2.
3) AFC North
The AFC North has been considered the toughest division in the NFL for years. Every season, seemingly one team has a chance to contend out of this division and this year looks no different. With the division home to the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns, the AFC North lands at No. 3.
4) AFC East
The AFC East has been in the headlines a lot to start the season. Between the Buffalo Bills' early success, the Miami Dolphins injuries, the New York Jets staff changes, and the New England Patriots quarterback controversy, nearly every team has been a talking point at some point. Nonetheless, when healthy, three of the four teams have a solid chance to make the postseason and make a deep playoff run.
5) NFC West
When healthy, the NFC West is typically one of the league's top divisions. It is filled with the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, and Arizona Cardinals. This season, the division has seemingly struggled, as only the Seahawks and Niners are at .500 entering following San Fran's win in Seattle on Thursday night. Nonetheless, when the 49ers return to full health, they could be poised for a run of their own again.
6) AFC West
The AFC West has been dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs seemingly since Patrick Mahomes came into the picture. But this year, the Denver Broncos add to the mix with a winning record so far. Adding in the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, the AFC West has elite talent and well-coached teams.
7) AFC South
The AFC South had plenty of hype surrounding the division entering this season. Between the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars, the young division had high expectations set on them early. Through the first five weeks, only the Texans have a winning record to this point. The talent is there, but the production isn't there yet.
