1) Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes may be the leading player to thank for the Chiefs early season turn around after several worrisome games early on. The star quarterback is up to 14 passing touchdowns and two interceptions on the season. If he continues to play at this high of a level, Kansas City will be a tough team to defeat moving forward.

2) Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen and the Bills are in the midst of a two game losing streak entering their bye week, but it doesn’t come at the expense of poor quarterback play. The reigning MVP continues to play at an extremely high level and if it weren’t for him, Buffalo may not even be in the position they are given their struggles. Regardless, there’s no way Allen can’t be placed among the top three in this list and for that, he lands at No. 2.

3) Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott has been in a tier of his own over the last several weeks and in large part he’s the driving force behind the Cowboy’s ability to overshadown the horrendous defensive play. Dallas’ offense has been among the most elite in the league and the reason for their success tracks back to Prescott. The 32-year old has thrown 16 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season, with 13 of those touchdown passes coming in the last four weeks. For that, Prescott lands at No. 3.

4) Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

At this point of the season, Baker Mayfield has made it a weekly tradition to put on full display why he should be one of, if not the frontrunner for the MVP award so far this season. The former top pick is playing the best football of his entire career and his late-game heroics are the reason why the Buccaneers find themselves atop the NFC Conference. Considering the level Mayfield is playing at, it’ll be hard to see him dropping out of the top five anytime in the near future.

5) Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford continues to prove that age is just a number, playing at an MVP-caliber level at 37 years old. The former Georgia star dominated internationally this past weekend, tossing five touchdown passes in the Rams win over Jacksonville. With 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions on the season, Stafford finds himself in the top five, where many feel he belonged already.

6) Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

Jared Goff has proven time and time again that he’s more than just a game manager for the Lions. The pocket passer can make nearly every throw on the field and his IQ puts him in rare company among the top signal callers in the league. Leading one of the most explosive offenses in the league, Goff lands at No. 6.

7) Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert set a career-high in passing yards on Sunday throwing for 420 yards against the Colts. However, the quarterback’s three-touchdown day was overshadowed by the two costly interceptions that largely contributed to the team’s third loss of the season. It’s clear Herbert’s a premier talent in the league, but his struggles over the last few weeks are the leading cause for his slide on this list.

8) Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts

The controversy starts here with Daniel Jones moving up the list to No. 8 in the top ten. However, it’s hard to ignore what he’s doing in Indianapolis. Jones is finally in a system that allows his skillset to show and not only is he flourishing, but he looks like an MVP candidate on the best team in the league.

The former Duke standout is taking care of the football, delivering when the team needs him the most and when he’s asked to elevate his play slightly more than what he’s typically asked of, he does it with ease. Jones is up to ten passing touchdowns and three interceptions on the season and he became the first player since 1950 to complete two-thirds of his passes, while throwing for 200 yards in each of his first seven games of the season. For that, he slides up the list.

9) Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts put together arguably his best game of the season, passing for 326 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles win over the Vikings on Sunday. Not only did Hurts look like a comfortable passer, but he continued to take care of the ball, putting his season total at 11 passing touchdowns and only one interception.

10) Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks

Sam Darnold looks like more than just a stop-gap quarterback in Seattle since arriving. Between his growing confidence and the staff’s increased trust, Darnold is playing at arguably the highest-level of his career and the comfortability of his role in the Seahawks’ offense could be a perfect fit for years to come. As the USC product continues to play among the best in the league, expect Seattle to be in the mix.

Honorable Mention: Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Another week, another time that Lamar Jackson falls outside the top ten on this list solely because of his hamstring injury. The good news? Jackson is expected to return next week and he’ll have the opportunity to prove why he’s one of, if not the best quarterbacks on this list.
