8. Oregon Ducks vs. 9. Tennessee Volunteers
The Oregon Ducks found their groove on Saturday against the Oregon State Beavers and remain No. 6 in the Coaches Poll. Oregon got the offense going as the offensive line played an excellent game, offering encouragement that they could begin to be the team many projected they could be this season. Oregon would be hosting one of the most impressive teams in the country thus far: the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee climbs two spots in the Coaches Poll, up to No. 7 nationally (they are sixth in the AP Poll). The Volunteers are winning by an average score of 63.7 to 4.3 through three weeks and are dominant on both sides of the ball. The winner of this game in Eugene would play against the Georgia Bulldogs in Round 2.

1. Georgia Bulldogs (SEC Champion)
The Georgia Bulldogs survived a scare in Lexington, beating the Kentucky Wildcats 13-12. The voting coaches did not lose faith despite the rocky performance. Georgia holds the No. 1 spot in the Coaches Poll as they secured first-place votes and edged out Texas and Ohio State. UGA was oddly conservative on offense during the game, and Carson Beck was less than stellar. The defense did their job despite missing a few impact players. Georgia gets a bye week to heal up before heading to Tuscaloosa to play at Alabama on September 28. In this projection, the Bulldogs would play the winner of the eight versus nine game in the second round.
Georgia 2024 National Title Odds: +370
2. Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten Champion)
The Ohio State Buckeyes dropped to No. 3 in the Coaches Poll but maintain the No. 2 seed in this 12-team playoff bracket. Ohio State grabbed one first-place vote, and they are an excellent No. 3 with a 2-0 record after an early bye week. The Buckeyes are favored by 39.5 points against Marshall this week and have the shortest odds in the country to win the national title. Ohio State would play the winner of the seven versus ten matchup.
Ohio State 2024 National Title Odds: +330
3. Utah Utes (Big 12 Champion)
The Utah Utes moved to 3-0, winning without Cam Rising at Utah State. They are ranked tenth in the country and are the top-ranked Big 12 or ACC squad. That earns them the No. 3 seed and the Big 12’s automatic bye in this projected bracket. The Utes hope Rising is back this week as they travel to Oklahoma State as a slight underdog against the Cowboys. Utah would take on the winner of the six versus 11 contest.
Week 4: Utah (+2.5) at Oklahoma State
4. Miami Hurricanes (ACC Champion)
The ACC’s top-ranked squad remains the Miami Hurricanes. Mario Cristobal’s team easily dispatched Ball State in Week 3 and moved to 3-0 on the young season. The Hurricanes have a star in quarterback Cam Ward, good offensive and defensive lines, and a good supporting cast of offensive weapons for Ward to throw to. Miami is ranked 11th in the Coaches Poll, one spot below the Utah Utes. That gives them the fourth seed, and they would play the winner of the f (Texas) versus 12 (Memphis) game.
5. Texas Longhorns vs. 12. Memphis Tigers (G5 Auto-Bid)
The Texas Longhorns dismembered UTSA in a Week 3 blowout and are now 3-0 in the season. Texas is now No. 1 in the AP Poll, and they jumped to No. 2 in the Coaches Poll. The Longhorns won 56-7, and the most interesting aspect of the contest was Quinn Ewers exiting with a strained abdomen and Arch Manning starring in relief. Manning was 9-for-12 for 223 yards with four touchdowns, plus he added a dazzling 67-yard touchdown run to add an exclamation point to the performance. Texas is loaded, and they look terrific on every level and both sides of the ball. Texas would host the Memphis Tigers in Austin in Round 1. Memphis is the top-ranked Group of Five team after they won at Florida State to move to 3-0. The winner would then play Miami in a neutral site bowl game.
Texas 2024 National Title Odds: +550
6. Alabama Crimson Tide vs. 11. Penn State Nittany Lions
The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked fourth in the Coaches Poll and earned the six-seed in this projected expanded playoff bracket. The Crimson Tide handled the Wisconsin Badgers to improve to 3-0. If Alabama’s offensive line can stay healthy, they should have a great offense led by the dangerous Jalen Milroe at quarterback. The Tide would host the Penn State Nittany Lions in Tuscaloosa in Round 1. Penn State is ranked in a tie with Missouri at No. 8 in the country and takes the 11-seed. The Nittany Lions have a win over West Virginia that doesn’t look as good today as it did in Week 1and a narrow escape over Bowling Green before a bye week last Saturday. The winner would battle Utah in Round 2.
7. Ole Miss Rebels vs. 10. Missouri Tigers
The Ole Miss Rebels improved to 3-0 with another dominant win, this time over Wake Forest. The Rebels still have not allowed a touchdown in any of their three victories and have scored at least 40 points in each contest. Jaxson Dart is playing at an elite level, and the skill players are explosive. Ole Miss should continue to roll untested until back-to-back road trips to South Carolina and LSU in October. The Rebels would host fellow SEC squad Missouri. The Tigers are 3-0 after a come-from-behind win over Boston College. Mizzou fell down 14-0 before storming back and then allowing a late touchdown to make it closer than it appeared on the field.
