Alabama vs. Auburn: ESPN Ranks Top 5 Moments in Iron Bowl History

1) The Kick Six (2013)
Arguably the most iconic moment in not just Iron Bowl history, but college football history itself is the 2013 "kick six". After a missed 57-yard game-winning field goal attempt from Alabama's Adam Griffith with time expiring, Auburn cornerback Chris Davis did the unthinkable returning the failed field goal 109 yard with no time on the clock to lead the Tigers to a 34-28 win.
5) The First Overtime (2021)
In 2021, Bryce Young finished his Heisman campaign with a thriller in the regular season finale against the Auburn Tigers. Marching down the field with a 12-play, 97-yard touchdown drive to send the game to overtime for the first time in Iron Bowl history (89 games), this will forever be known as one of the top battles between these two teams in history. Alabama would go on to win this matchup in four overtimes.
4) Bo Over the Top (1982)
Auburn freshman running back and future NFL legend Bo Jackson ended longtime Alabama head coach Paul Bryant's career with a loss after a go-ahead touchdown to steal the game at the goal line with a leap into the end zone for the Tigers to win 23-22.

This would go down as the first ever Iron Bowl rivalry win for Auburn head coach Pat Dye, snapping a 9-year losing streak for the Tigers.
3) The Camback (2010)
Cam Newton will forever go down as one of the best quarterbacks to ever put on an Auburn jersey, and not just because of his Heisman play during the 2010 season. Newton led the Tigers back from a 24-0 deficit in the second quarter all the way back to win the matchup 28-27 win.

Auburn would go on to win the SEC Championship after knocking off South Carolina and continue on to win the 2011 BCS National Championship over No. 2 Oregon.
2) 4th & 31/The Gravedigger (2023)
Alabama seemed poised to lose this matchup after Jalen Milroe put together arguably the most disappointing game of his young career up to this point, However, in Nick Saban's final Iron Bowl rivalry game, the Crimson Tide managed to find a way to win, courtesy of Milroe's heroic on 4th & 31, finding Isaiah Bond in the corner of the end zone for a game-winning 31-yard touchdown after scrambling to keep the play alive. This play by Milroe will be known as "The Gravedigger" for years to come.
